Customer Highlight — My Robot Friend

GGR just finished shipping out the killer max-single (in limited edition all white vinyl) for My Robot Friend (Feat. Alison Moyet).  This package is really amazing (if we don’t say so ourselves) — all white vinyl, white art jackets, white labels, and a digital download bonus.  The 12″ EP features seven different mixes of the track entitled “Waiting”.  Grab a copy here!

Customer Highlight — Vagrant Records; Stars

We at GGR are huge fans of Vagrant Records and their amazing roster of artists.  When they approached us about pressing a special limited edition 7″ box set for the new Stars album entitled The Five Ghosts, we were absolutely ecstatic!

If you haven’t checked this album out yet, you really need to.  It was released on CD in June, and you can hit up the band’s website for a chance to either win or purchase this very special limited edition box until supplies run out (there is a preview pic below of the box — packaging was handled by the really cool Montreal-based Le Projet Cardboard Box)

Customer Highlight — Stone Axe

All it took was one listen, and everyone here at GGR became huge fans of this band.  Get yourself a copy here!

STONE AXE was formed in Bremerton Washington in 2008
by Tony Reed(Mos Generator/Treepeople) and Dru Brinkerhoff
(The Swinos)with the intention of recreating and preserving
the sounds of rock music from the 1970s. In 2009 Stone Axe
released their first full length ‘STONE AXE’ and then the tour EP
‘EXTENDED PLAY’ in time for their first US tour which included
Mykey Haslip(drums) & Mike DuPont(bass). During the first year
they also released three 7” singles and a 10” vinyl ep. The new album
‘STONE AXE II’ keeps the spirit of the 1970s fully intact. If ‘self
titled’ is 1968-71, then ‘stone axe II’ is ‘71-’74.

If you were to hear this album without the aid of any background information on its origins, your instincts would probably tell you it was 60’s-era rock, carefully unearthed from the vaults of an overlooked rock band along the lines of Free or Cream. The fact that it’s a new recording is a testament to the precision with which the group crafts not only their songs, but their sound. If you feel like you’ve exhausted your classic rock options, this is a great place to get a fresh start.

Customer Highlight– Stark Folk Band / Old 3C Records

Background Info:
Brady Burkett and Ryan Shaffer continue their 10-plus years home-recording collaboration with collections of Americana rock tunes under the name Stark Folk Band. In 2003, they self-released a two-disc set of their early material called A Landscape Yesterday: For Seasons. Their latest efforts go in more roots-inspired directions, alternating between acoustic balladry and country-fried rock tunes.

You can pick up a copy of their latest LP (proudly pressed by Gotta Groove) by visiting either the band’s myspace or the Old 3C Records website.

Customer Highlight — Deathwish Records

We are really proud to mention that the legendary hardcore/punk/metal label/brand Deathwish Inc. recently enlisted GGR to press up the United Nations Nevermind The Bombings, Here’s Your Six Figures 7″ EP.  Tre McCarthy and Deathwish Records are some really cool guys, and the bands that are part of their roster are amazing.  You can take a listen to everything they have put out online, and be sure to pick up as many of their titles as you can afford.  This 7″ features a digital download bonus, and was pressed in 3 different limited edition colors…

Here’s more info about United Nations from the Deathwish website:

“Originally rumored to be a project founded by veterans from Thursday, GlassJaw, Converge and more, United Nations’ existence and subsequent recordings have been cloaked in confusion since their rumored inception. On the heels of the release of their debut full length on the Eyeball label in 2008, the United Nations Organization (UNO) shut down the band’s pages on Social networking sites worldwide. The band was also forced to alter their debut album’s cover, sighting retail stores refusal to carry the title with controversial artwork. This informational blackout further added to the aura of mystery surrounding the band, allowing them to grow stronger amidst the chaos.

2010 brings the release of “Nevermind The Bombings, Here’s Your Six Figures”, the second alleged release from the band. “Nevermind…” is a spastic and violent four song explosion that brings to mind the bygone days of the mid-1990’s “screamo” sub-genre. A poignant musical missile meant to sink today’s safe and predictable musical establishment.”

Customer Highlight — Evil Weevil Records

We were really honored and excited when Bill from Evil Weevil Records called us to place another 7″ order with us last month — this record was The Holy Mess’s Benefit Sesh.  The records (if we don’t say so ourselves) turned out sweet– white vinyl with some really cool matching glue pocket jackets and labels.  Grab a copy today!

Customer Highlight — Robbed The Bank Records

Jason Novak is a really cool guy who recently started a vinyl reissue label of his own– Robbed the Bank Records.  We at GGR were ecstatic when he contacted us about pressing his first two reissue releases — Spitalfield: Remember Right Now and The Forecast: In The Shadow of Two Gunmen.  We are happy to see that these two classic indie rock albums are seeing new light as special limited color vinyl editions.  You can pick them up at the Robbed The Bank Records online store — available individually or as fan packs including all the color variations of the the run (you can pick up test pressings too).
