Customer Highlight — Delicate Steve

We are pumped to announce our very first pressing for the Luaka Bop label – Delicate Steve‘s Wondervisions LP.

Northern New Jersey’s Delicate Steve is the project of (Delicate) Steve Marion, guitarist, composer, and producer.  Without words, Delicate Steve’s songs are incredibly lyrical- each song a concise rock explosion driven by melody.  Steve’s guitar playing and tones have made a quiet revolution within New York’s independent scene with members of Yeasayer, Dirty Projectors, TV on the Radio, Javelin, frequently in the audience.

You can pre-order your vinyl copy now (and get a free 7″ while supplies last), or grab one at independent record stores across the country on 01.25.10!

Customer Highlight — Black Swan

Marking a clandestine arrival out of, seemingly, nowhere, Black Swan emerges from the shadowy billows of smoke to immerse listeners in a lucid, cavernous dream, tracing silhouettes in the darkness with drowning ambience and orchestrated drones that screech and howl intermittently amongst the disorienting magnetic tape disturbances. Black Swan operates under a guise of far-away sounds traveling through murky waters, drowning the listener in its heavy-handed layers of ghostly resonance.

You can purchase a copy of In 8 Movements on vinyl+download from our good friends at Experimedia.

Customer Highlight — The Boyish Charms

Thank you to Talking Helps Records for a second GGR pressing — this time, The Boyish CharmsInfinity in its Infancy.

Customer Highlight — Tapes ‘n Tapes

The release date for Outside, the brand-new LP from Tapes ‘n Tapes is only a week away; hot off the GGR presses and shipped to the distributor….

To celebrate, the band put another new song from the album, Badaboom, on its website.  Just head on over to tapesntapes.com to check it out!

If you’re going to be in Minneapolis on 1/11/11, you should join the band for the official record release party.  First, they’ll be playing a FREE in-store performance at the Electric Fetus at 7pm.  PBR, Modern Cafe, and Peace Coffee will be providing FREE food and beverages.  After the in-store, they’re moving the party over to Nick and Eddie for an Outside listening party, giveaways, and DJ sets by Mike2600 and Tapes ‘n Tapes.  It’s gonna be an all night celebration!

There are a lot of other pre-album release festivities planned for this week.  The best way to keep up with everything is via the Tapes ‘n Tapes Facebook and Twitter.

Customer Highlight — Deep Earth

The Deep Earth Soundsystem Consciousness Network operates out of the southside of Chicago, IL as a rotating hub of ideas based on electronic synthesis, rhythmic maneuvering, and minimal excursions. The personnel currently includes J. Shaver, O. Junker, and T. Janas.

GGR is proud to have pressed Deep Earth’s first vinyl LP release, Nachtmusik —  Four hazy tracks covering 35 minutes were recorded, chopped, screwed, and spit-shined by Mr. Dan Agosto over four sessions spanning three seasons in this year 2010, and the album presents them in their entirety.

Customer Highlight — Forecast

We are proud to say that this is now our second Forecast LP pressing!  This self-titled LP comes courtesy of our friends at Youth Conspiracy Records.

The Forecast’s third full-length is self-titled for a reason: It is the band’s best work to date, completely defining their sound and purpose.  The album fuses together the best parts of mid-’90s emo, turn of the century post-hardcore and elements of both timeless country and pop.

This special pressing is comprised of eight different extremely limited runs of different color wax —

/122 Cherry 7-Up
/83 Suicide
/26 Cream Soda
/24 Mountain Dew
/14 Diet Cherry 7-Up
/3 Mello Yello
/2 Orange Fanta
/1 Vanilla Milkshake With A Cherry On Top.
