Customer Highlight — Estrogen Highs

Emulating the same punk rock DIY attitude and sloppy lo-fi records that helped shaped their youth, New Haven’s the Estrogen Highs crank out catchy garage rock.  After a series of killer singles and full lengths on Telephone Explosion, Deadbeat, Never Heard of It and the tastily titled Milk n’ Herpes Records, Stefan, Mark, Wes, and Ross deliver their special dose of jangley controlled chaos to the Cycles EP for Safety Meeting. Taking nods from such bands as the Wipers, the Nuggets, and the Gories, they bring a “less is more” aesthetic to their song writing, hammering out infectious riffs with intense sloppy precision. Their music is honest, loud, and completely intoxicating, burrowing into the brain like a parasite.

This 300 copy  limited edition LP includes a copy of the CD and hand-screen printed jackets.  You can grab a copy from Safety Meeting Records, or at one of the band’s shows.

Customer Highlight — The Deloreans

Mastered by our friend Carl Saff, the Deloreans debut vinyl release, American Craze, will be available on heavy 180 gram wax very soon!

The deluxe vinyl package includes a download code for the digital version of the album.  You can pre-order your copy from the band now!

Customer Highlight — Second Academy

Thanks to Tsurumi Records for enlisting GGR to press the limited edition Second Academy Bohemian Grove LP on translucent pearl color wax!

As easily as The Second Academy can craft playful lo-fi rock melodies, you’re quickly reminded that a cunning snake lies below. Throbbing rock anthems twist in and out of more melodic and often experimental moments throughout the album.

You can pre-order the LP (which also includes a copy on CD) now.  All web orders also get a link to download an advance copy digitally!

Customer Highlight — Dufus

Seth Faergolzia of Dufus is touring the Northeast this December in support of Dufus’ final album,  Eth, released independently (fan funded) on CD and 12″ LP.  He’ll be performing solo acoustic with percussion, electronics and some prerecorded materials.

Here are a few upcoming shows:

Thanks to Josh Reed and Seth Faergolzia for enlisting us to press this record!

Customer Highlight — Take Acre

We at GGR are honored to have pressed the first-ever vinyl release for Minneapolis-based Take Acre.  They will be celebrating this LP release with a special show on December 12 at 1419 in Minneapolis at 8pm.  You can get a copy of this new album (which also includes a download code for the entire album as mp3’s) at the show, or by contacting the band.

Customer Highlight — Fungi Girls

Welcome to another solid 7″ release from our buds over at Group Tightener — Fungi Girls Owsley Knows / Glare #2 7″.

Fungi Girls are three high school kids from Texas. They’ve released records on Hozac, Play Pinball and Psychic Lunch. For their Group Tightener release, the trio recorded twin bursts of catchy garage-psych that will force its way into your brain and probably chill there for months and months. Throw it in the jukebox and drop the quarter in…over and over. Limited to 500 copies!

Customer Highlight — Paradise of Bachelors

Friends, we are delighted to announce the release of Paradise of Bachelors’ inaugural album, “Said I Had a Vision”: Songs & Labels of David Lee, 1960-1988 (PoB-01). This first-ever anthology of David Lee’s career as songwriter, performer and recording artist, record label owner, producer, record store proprietor, and all-around impresario includes fourteen songs by ten artists, twelve of which have never before been reissued. Each package includes a SCOP Gospel newsletter from 1988, a coupon for free digital download of the entire record, and a deluxe 8-page 11 x 11″ booklet containing more than 10,000 words of essays, track-by-track notes, and discographical information drawing from several years of friendship, research, record collecting, and personal interviews.

You can preview and grab a copy at various independent record stores around the country, or directly from Paradise of Bachelors.

Customer Highlight — Magnolia Mountain

Thank you to Mark Utley and Magnolia Mountain for asking GGR to press the group’s first LP, Nothing As It Was. We first worked with Magnolia Mountain in June 2010 on their newest release double-LP, Redbird Green.

Magnolia Mountain is a blue collar, DIY band who write and perform their own material, a mix of folk, country, blues, bluegrass and other American music styles.  All eight members work day jobs and reinvest every penny the band makes into recording and releasing their albums.

You can grab a copy of both Nothing As It Was and Redbird Green directly from the band or at a variety of independent record stores.

Customer Highlight — Invisible Hand

Adam Smith and his Invisible Hand have been producing some of the best punk-laced pop gems and quietly experimenting with home-recording under the radar for the past four years; hitting their stride off a series of split 7” EP releases with Naked Gods (Boone, NC), The Alphabet (Harrisonburg, VA) and Borrowed Beams of Light (Charlottesville, VA). With the Funny / Not Funny Records release of Invisible Hand, the band is ready to expand their devoted-listener base.

GGR is proud to have pressed their latest full-length album, Invisible Hand. You can grab a copy from Funny/Not Funny Records.

Customer Highlight — American War

On Rhetoric, Matt Scheuermann writes songs of every day life, of and for the people he knows, the ones he doesn’t, and all things that seem absurd and beautiful about this world. His frequently life-affirming, and quasi-existentialist lyrics function well with his versatile, dynamic vocals, which can shift from a colorful forte to a soft piano in the snap of a finger.

The Rhetoric LP is the first vinyl title released by Shout Out Loud Prints, which happens to also be a killer screen printing studio in Columbus, Ohio.  They print a variety of shirts, paper products, buttons, and of course, record jackets.

(oh yeah, in true analog style, they also handle cassette tape duplication and screen printing)
