Customer Highlight — Expire

Expire, the latest addition to the Six Feet Under roster is leading the way of a movement of a young crop of bands based in the Midwest. Having released a demo in 2009 followed by the “Grim Rhythm” 7″ in March of 2010, Expire has been busy writing songs, touring, and showing the hardcore scene what the future sounds like.

“Suffer The Cycle” is the new 7″ from Expire on Six Feet Under Records. Recorded at Young Brothers Studios with Taylor Young (Nails), Expire has put together 4 songs of straightforward, heavy-hitting hardcore. Members of Expire live in different parts of the midwest and the band seems to draw influences from the east and west coasts, finding a happy medium with heavy grooves reminiscent of the NYHC style and fast parts that are worthy of a good ‘ole California circle pit. If the best of both worlds sounds good to you, see Expire on tour, mark your calendars and get ready for “Suffer The Cycle.”

Customer Highlight — My Canadian Girlfriend

Mastered by Chicago Mastering,  Chicago indie rockers My Canadian Girlfriend are releasing their new LP, Shogun very soon… (finished pressing this week). Stay tuned to the band’s website for info on grabbing a copy for yourself – you can also listen to a preview on the band’s myspace.

Customer Highlight — Stepkids

Coming very soon from Stones Throw Records, the debut single from The StepkidsShadows On Behalf. The sleeve contains no printing, only embossed type. This 12″ single will be limited to 1000 pieces, and (if we don’t say so ourselves) is pressed on some of the most amazing looking splatter color wax we have ever produced (every record varies in color/pattern).  The Stepkids is the first of several new artists to be released by Stones Throw this year.

Customer Highlight — Fat Shadow

Houseplant Records is a DIY punk record label in Bloomington, Indiana.  The label has released records by Pink Razors, Landlord, Holopaw, and Hot New Mexicans.  They are now releasing the brand-new LP by Fat ShadowFoot Of Love. The album, made with Mike Bridavsky at Russian Recording in the fall of 2010, will be released to coincide with an east coast tour starting on March 25. Grab a copy today!

Customer Highlight — Loden

A product of the Brussels and Amsterdam music scenes, Loden’s productions are a blend of M83’s wall of sound, Air’s Virgin Suicides score, and City Centre Offices’ ever-expanding supply of laptop electronica. After some net-label work and a seven-inch for Eat This Records, Loden hit his stride with the 2003 EP, All That’s Left Is Right, which was released in Europe and subsequently licensed by Mush for the rest of the world. 2003 also saw the release of a more dancefloor based EP for Colony Productions and a spot on the Jip EP series. He returned in 2005 with Valeen Hope.  Thanks to Mush Records for bringing GGR on board to press this brand new 7″ by Loden, Self-Aware Wolf/Radio.

This inspired offering tests his digital crunch against the distinct timbre of two fearless rappers. “Self-Aware Wolf” features left-field champion Busdriver placing a caustic, humorous vocal atop Loden’s bubbly example of digital pop. “Radio” sees K-The-I??? showcasing his booming delivery and striking command of language over one of Loden’s most blistering beats to date. Fans of the red-hot LA beat scene will find these songs rich in modern-man dystopia and pixel pulverization.  Grab a copy from Mush!

Customer Highlight — Expensive Looks

A brand new 7″ release from Group Tightener — the first-ever physical release by Expensive Looks (aka Alec Feld)!   The introductory 7-inch features two songs, with the B-side exclusive to this release. “Vanishers” is a hazy, slow-build of electronic loops and Alec Feld’s passionate croon, diping through the echoey peaks and valleys of a teen searcher’s bedroom wail. “Simon” gets a bit more sinister with off kilter samples mixing a criss cross of varient vocal attacks. The record is just a taste of the textured dance-oriented full length that will see its release on Group Tightener this summer.  Limited to 500 copies (and available for preorder now).

Customer Highlight — The Graduate

It was an extreme honor to have been chosen by American Dream Records to pressed their inaugural vinyl release – The Graduate‘s Only Every Time LP.

Formed in 2005, The Graduate quickly amassed a dedicated fanbase with their atmospheric, emotional brand of rock. Their self-released EP was the #1 most added album at CMJ (also landing the band in the magazine). After hitting  the Midwest tour circuit, the Graduate released their debut album, Anhedonia. The band lived on the road for the next two years, touring with Jack’s Mannequin, Secondhand Serenade,  Mayday Parade, Simple Plan, plus stints on Warped and Lollapalooza. After their label imploded, the Graduate soldiered on and caught the ear of Razor & Tie. The Graduate signed with the label in 2010 and hit the studio with Brian McTernan (Thrice, Circa Survive, Senses Fail) to record this gem — one of 2010’s essentials.  Originally only released on CD (and digitally), American Dream Records has put together several limited-run vinyl colors — available nowHit them up to order yours before they are gone!
